First Lady Sarah Stitt has joined The CARE Center, an Oklahoma City nonprofit, in its mission to protect, educate and advocate for abused kids.

As an honorary board member of The CARE Center, Stitt will help raise awareness about child abuse and the resources available to fight it.

“Sarah Stitt is a fierce advocate for kids and families,” said CARE Center CEO Stacy McNeiland. “Anyone who knows her recognizes the love she has for the most vulnerable among us. Our kids are lucky to have her as an ally, and our board and staff are thrilled to have her support.”

Nationally accredited, The CARE Center is Oklahoma County’s only child advocacy center.

“No child should have to suffer at the hands of an abuser,” Stitt said. “The CARE Center partners with state and federal law enforcement agencies, child welfare agencies and other community nonprofits. Their sole goal is to put an end to child abuse. I’m proud to be part of such a worthy mission.”

Founded in 1991, The CARE Center provides services for children in families in cases where abuse is suspected. Last year alone, CARE served 1,888 children through victim services and an additional 12,809 through ROAR, an education program that teaches kids ages 4-8 how to identify and prevent abuse.
