COLLABORATIVE CARE

Board Member Feature: GINA BUENDIA

Monthly Newsletter - April 2021 (3)

Gina Buendia’s background in crisis counseling laid the foundation for her invaluable contributions as a member of The CARE Center Board of Directors.

“I first learned about The CARE Center by attending Brave Ball,” Gina said. “I was brought to tears by the survivor story they highlighted that night, and I knew I wanted to be involved in their mission.”

Since 2014, Gina has served on The CARE Center board, contributing as Board Development chair, co-chair for Brave Ball and other committees.

“Because of my firsthand work with child advocacy centers, I know the work The CARE Center does is invaluable,” she said. “The CARE Center staff is incredible at what they do, and their services are essential.”

Gina says she is proud to serve an organization that provides a safe environment where children can tell their stories and begin to heal.

“I hope there will be a day when The CARE Center’s work is no longer essential and that child abuse will end,” Gina said. “Until that day, it is important to continue to support The CARE Center so they can provide education, advocacy and healing services to children and their families.”

As we boldly pursue our goal to eliminate child abuse in Oklahoma County, we are continually grateful for the impact and investment of community collaborators like Gina. Thank you for all that you do for Oklahoma’s most vulnerable children!
