Frequently Asked Questions

If you suspect child abuse, call the DHS hotline, 1.800.522.3511. If you’re in an emergency situation, call 911. Reported child abuse cases are referred to The CARE Center by DHS or law enforcement. We will give you a reminder call one to two days before your appointment.

No problem! If you need any assistance getting here, just give us a call. We can arrange to have a taxi pick you up at your home/location and take you back.

Please park in the parking lot just north of the main CARE Center building.

Appointments typically last about two hours. If a medical exam is conducted, the appointment may last 3 to 3 1/2 hours.

Please visit the “We Heal” page for a detailed overview of what to expect during your visit at The CARE Center.

Non-offending parents, grandparents and legal guardians can accompany children to their visit. If you have been named as a potential suspect in the official case, please do not visit – you will be asked to leave the premises.

All services offered at The CARE Center are free. Referred services may require a co-pay or out of pocket expenses.
