Thanks to everyone who attended our Stand Up For Kids luncheon on September 8! It was a wonderful event and Matthew Sandusky’s story helped emphasize the need to truly stand up for kids. More than 200 people attended and we raised nearly $40,000 for our critical programs of helping children heal after abuse and abuse prevention.
Stand Up For Kids is a very special event where we bring awareness to the topic of child abuse and call upon our community to rise together for children. We bring in an abuse survivor to share his or her story of healing. The event is always powerful and very inspiring.
Do you have suggestions for next year’s speaker? Are you interested in being a sponsor? Contact Teighynne for more information.
Matthew Sandusky visited guests and signed copies of his memoir, Undaunted, after the luncheon.

Christmas is a special time of year for many of us. As you begin making your holiday plans and shopping, consider doing something special for one of our children through Christmas at CARE, where you can adopt a child or family we have served this year.
We anticipate about 80 children will be on our list this year. Child wish lists will be available beginning November 11 and unwrapped gifts should be returned to The CARE Center on or before December 2. You can help make someone else’s Christmas magical!

If you’ve visited The CARE Center recently, you’ve probably witnessed construction vehicles and equipment. Through a grant from The City of Oklahoma City, we’re able to make capital improvements to each of our five facilities that will significantly reduce our annual maintenance costs.
Construction began in May on our Chesapeake House and now our Main House is undergoing improvements. We hope all renovations will be complete by next summer.
During renovations, we are remaining fully operational and with our regular office hours.
Improvements to our Chesapeake House look fantastic! Thank you to Hannah Sutter with A-Line Designs for donating her time and services to help with the client waiting room/play room design and layout.
This fantastic group of students from Oklahoma City’s Southeast High School recently gave their Sunday afternoon to volunteering at The CARE Center to help beautify our campus. We are so grateful to this group of students!
