April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month across the country and Oklahoma. This year’s theme is “It’s your turn to make a difference for children.” Below are some easy things YOU can do to make a difference for children:
Attend a training or hold classes for staff at your business about child abuse awareness and prevention.
Sign a Prevention Pledge
Make a commitment to preventing child abuse. Display your pledges in a public area.
Wear Blue & Blue Ribbons
Wear blue ribbons for the entire month of April. Every Friday for the month of April can be wear blue day.
Sponsor a fundraiser that benefits The CARE Center. Contact Kristin for more information.
Attend a Blue Ribbon Event
Participate in Child Abuse Prevention Day. April 14, 2015 is designated Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Awareness Day in Oklahoma. Join us for CAP Day at the Capitol to spread awareness and the CAP Day Mini Conference to network and gain new knowledge. For more information, visit the Oklahoma Department of Health’s website here.
Decorate a Blue Ribbon Tree
Celebrate your commitment to happy, healthy, and safe kids. Invite staff and customers to tie a ribbon to your tree. Communities everywhere will be building blue ribbon trees in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month. The blue ribbon is the international sign for child abuse prevention and serves as a constant reminder that all of us have a responsibility in helping to protect children.
